general Nothing quite like coming home...

to the parents that loved and nurtured you to let you know how much you suck and how much of a failure you are. Just when life is getting better and progress seems to be coming back into life, they decimate all hope and pride.
 
And the worst part is they are absolutely right. For a while, as the feeling of the initiating progress sets in, very little result is readily apparent. And this truth isn't BAD per se, it simply sucks to hear it. I'm sitting there knowing "I'm going in the right direction, but they can't see it because I haven't really moved too much yet in that direction." I suppose this doesn't make much sense without the specifics that go with it, but who wants to hear the specifics of a refining violinist. Godfuckingdamnit.

I beseech you to forgive me for my inabilities in all things, past and future. Some day when I put you in an old age home that's been exposed by 60 Minutes and Fox news as a hellhole, full of abusive staff and reeking of urine, realize that you'll rot there until you die not because of any malice or spite on my part, but because I am inadequate. And for this I apologize in advance."
